Choose car rental in New Orleans, Louisiana

Welcome to the Big Easy!

New Orleans, renowned throughout the world for its Mardi Gras, historic architecture, steamboats, unique dialect, round-the-clock nightlife and exciting Creole and Cajun cuisine, is a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Hop in your rental car and discover New Orleans, a city that is quite unlike anywhere else in the US – or anywhere for that matter!

Vacations in New Orleans: Getaround bespoke car rental

For the most part you’ll probably be exploring the city on foot or hopping on one of NOLO’s iconic streetcars, but when you do need a rental car while you are in New Orleans, Getaround has the perfect solution. Unlike standard rental contracts that lock you into a minimum period, Getaround’s seamless car-sharing solution in Louisiana lets you rent for as little or as long as you like, whether that’s a couple of hours or a couple of days. And as you manage everything from your phone, there’s no time-consuming paperwork to fill out or key handovers to arrange! Just download the app, choose your perfect drive and you’re all set.

The French connection – drive your rental car through the French Quarter of New Orleans

Driving your rental car to the French Quarter, New Orleans’ oldest district, should be at the top of every visitor’s list. As well as countless examples of stunning 19th century architecture (don’t miss LaBranche House), you’ll also find the French Market, Jackson Square, the Old Ursuline Convent Museum, Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo, St. Louis cathedral, antique stores, numerous dining options and some of the best people watching anywhere.
The French Quarter is also home to some of New Orleans’s oldest and finest French Creole restaurants. Broussard’s is celebrating its 100th anniversary while Galatoire’s has been open since 1840 and Arnaud’s since 1918. Enjoy elegant courtyard dining and Oysters Rockefeller at Antoine’s, Bananas Foster at Brennan’s, delicious beignets (a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar) at the Café du Monde coffee stand on the waterfront, and a legendary Po’ Boy sandwich at Mahony’s Po-Boys & Seafood. Bon appetit!

Enjoy your stay in New Orleans!

As the sun sets and swallows begin to swoop above the outdoor street musicians and fortune tellers on Jackson Square, you’re probably ready to enjoy a well-deserved sundowner and you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice when it comes to drinking venues. All-time favorites include Pat O’Brian’s, home of the famous hurricane cocktail and dueling pianos, the spinning Carousel Bar (the bar spins, not your head!) and Jean Lafitte’s Old Absinthe House, originator of the Absinthe Frappe. Interesting fact: New Orleans is the only city in the US with an open container law meaning you can drink alcohol in the streets in the French Quarter.
But no trip to the Big Easy would be complete without taking in some live music. Music is the city’s beating heart and it has produced such greats as Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson, Fats Domino, and Harry Connick Jr. to name but a few. From the intimate and upscale Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro, the atmospheric Saenger Theatre or the historic Preservation Hall, your toes are sure to be tapping!
See you soon in New Orleans!
